I work a lot. But doesn’t everybody?
A few months ago, my friend Betty and I decided that we were going to take field trips together, once-in-awhile. The first one was great. Betty picked the spot and we drove about an hour away to a wonderful museum. We had beautiful weather, which made it even better, since our first field trip was in August. We toured the museum, had lunch, walked through the gardens and talked and talked.
Then we made a big mistake. We didn’t do it again for 5 months! We have now come to our senses and plan a field trip every month. They do the kind of thing that’s on your “someday” list. It makes me feel so good to explore these places that I have been interested in but never acted on. But also, it’s a chance to take a “Breather Day” away from the office and clients (and family).
Yesterday we went to an auction. Neither of us had ever been to one. It was fun. Betty and I started our day by attending a meeting together. We then walked through Old Town Alexandria, enjoying the early Spring weather and the unusual shops. We stopped at Elevation Burger for a meal and then attended the auction. It was a great “Breather Day”. We’ll go it again soon, since we have learned how beneficial time-off can be.
