We are going to focus on a small storage space in your home this week – the Linen Closet. If you are lucky enough to have a linen closet, use it wisely. Store only linens and bath items inside.
Day 1. Examine your towels. Any ratty old ones? How many do you actually use? You want to have enough, but no more than you need. If you store more than you use it will be more difficult keep them neat and organized.
Day 2. Sort through any drug store items like sun screen, lotions, soaps and sprays. How old are they? Many of them lose their effectiveness with age, so it may be time to purchase new.
Day 3. How about all those sample items, hotel soaps, shampoos, etc? Do you ever use them? How old are they? Purge what you don’t need and contain what you want to keep.
Day 4. If you travel regularly, pack a travel bag and keep it in your linen closet. It will make it easy to grab-and-go the next time you travel.
Day 5. Finally the linens. How many sets of sheets do you have for each bed in your home? Sort through and save only what you need. Make sure they are in good shape. Fold them neatly. Some people like to store each set inside one of the pillowcases of the set.
Assigning a shelf to each type of item: bed linens, towels, bath products, etc. will help you to quickly know what you have and what you need.
