Get Organized in 2012 – Week 25

This week we will concentrate on one item that cause clutter for many people. It’s books! Do you own more books than shelves to store them? What percentage of your books have you read, not read? Do you feel the need to keep every book you read?

Attachment to books is sometimes very strong and it’s OK to keep books as long as you have the space for them. You need to treat them with the respect that they deserve and house them on bookcases and in other appropriate places. I don’t think cardboard boxes are suitable storage for books (unless your moving).

Week 25

This week, your organizing task everyday is to go through your books. Take a shelf at a time. Examine what you have. Purge what you don’t need. Donate to your library. Give some to friends. Make some space. Buy another bookcase if you need it. Dust them. Rearrange them. Put books of the same kind together. Have a “to read” pile near you favorite chair. Make a real personal library for yourself.

Love your books.
