Packing for a Beach Vacation

It’s time for your much-needed vacation. Ready to go? What are you packing? Here’s a little advice on what to take for a one-week beach vacation.

  • 3 tank tops or t-shirts
  • a light jacket or sweater
  • jeans
  • 3 pairs of shorts
  • a dress
  • under garments
  • 2 swimsuits
  • a beach cover up
  • a beach bag
  • beach towel
  • sleep wear
  • sunglasses
  • sunscreen
  • a hat
  • flip-flops, sandals and walking shoes
  • toiletries
  • a good book
  • an iPod or other music
  • a camera or smart phone to take pictures

Usually a beach vacation is casual and laid back. If yours is, take advantage and make your packing simple. What else do you pack for a beach trip?

  1. Having just come back from a beach vacation, I’d recommend a Kindle over the book. As long as you’re careful, the Kindle survives the beach quite well, and it’s lighter to carry plenty of good beach reads. We never needed the light jacket or sweater. Even in the evenings, it was plenty warm.

  2. A Kindle is a great idea – much lighter. You must have been vacationing on the east coast, where the temps were 100 degrees, were a jacket would have been a little crazy. I still think it’s a good idea in case you visit a chilly restaurant.

  4. We were in Florida, and you’re right about chilly restaurants. Didn’t think about that. The only one we went to was open air. And actually, the temps were only in the 80s. It was about 10 degrees cooler than VA. Excellent time to travel. 🙂
