As we count down the days until Thanksgiving you may be needing to declutter some space for soon-to-arrive guests. So this week, let’s prep for your holiday guests – and if you aren’t having holiday guests, declutter any bedroom in your home.
Day 1. Check the horizontal surfaces. Are they clutter-free? Make space on a surface so your guests will be able to spread out their things.
Day 2. How about that closet? Guest room closets are notorious for holding a lot of odds and ends. You don’t have to clear everything out, but clear at least one foot of hanging space and floor space in the closet for your guests to use. Sometimes just straightening things will help a closet to appear orderly.
Day 3. Give your guests some room to dance. What I means is, give them some floor space. It so easy to piles things on an used bed or floor, since nobody uses the guest room normally. But, now is the time to make a change. What exactly are you keeping in here? Find it a new, permanent home.
Day 4. What’s lurking under the bed? Ah Ha! If it’s more than dust bunnies pull it out and be brutal about what you are keeping and why.
Day 5. Today is the day that you spruce up the place – vacuum, dust, put out a vase of flowers and some fresh towels. Now you are ready to welcome your Thanksgiving guests!
